I agree with Miss Drops Az, this thread is pretty stupid. The price isn't 'set' at such a high amount of ecto/zkeys, it's there PURELY because of demand.

Demand clearly is higher than the supply, so the price is high. Economics people, do you speak it?

LoL, if you think they are overpriced go farm one. I have opened the chest now 330 times in hard mode (keeping track on paper) and have gotten one lousy bds to drop. They are cheap in my opinion. There is a reason why my friend is getting crazy nice offers on his r9 prot cuz the drop rate is the worst in the game. Finally something worth farming for and owning! Too many times anet has made the game worse by making items easy to get. BDS FTW!

There's another part missed in this thread - the BDS is often the ONLY one droppable staff for some attribute requirements (not counting basic common skins). There are NO other droppable req. Protection or Healing staffs except the pvp skins in the whole game.

There are so many great multiprofession staffs in EotN but they ALL drop for the same small selection of the least useful attributes - Divine Favor, Energy Storage, Soul Reaping, Inspiration, Spawning Power.

A staff should support the Main attribute of a build (like Healing, Fire Magic, Death, Domination, Restoration), and the primaries are just support attributes in 95%+ builds.

The Attributes problem is what adds a lot of demand for the BDS, Frog Scepter and Celestial Compass, driving their prices up.

Someone could say "BS, the Primary attrib req. BDS are also worth XXXecto!". True, but that's because:

-It's the Number 1 Top Trendy Staff, the obvious choice for the Black FoW+Chaos Gloves+Ninja Mask crowd.
-Primary attrib req BDS are still useful, and the masses don't care that it's not an optimal choice in most cases. I mean most of PvE players that don't swap sets, don't customize weapons, and always use sundering and -5/20%.
-Primary attrib req BDS are not that common, because of all the other attribute possibilities.

So they aren't cheaper because of that, but if ALL BDS were primary attr only, they all would be cheaper.

have you try killing Fendi and get to Fendi's Chest

lol if you have you would not sell the staff, if you haven't, try, shave your head first or you'll want to pull your hair out,

I think you can sell it at any price you wish, too, if you can find such a buyer!

Are you implying that Fendi is hard to beat?

Anyways, it's not overpriced. Learn supply and demand, please. You don't even need to take economics in high school to understand the basic concept of it.

The whole dungeon can be 600hp-ed...not much of an efford to reach out the chest, so it's a matter of luck getting it...
Also i neve liked this fugly skin, but as it seems some people like it and give big money for it ;/
However it is realy overpriced, as most of the GW weapons,, as the top priced swords, Voltaic spear and rare minis, as there are some very rich players, able to afford anything, prices are turned up to them only..iconomics needs much more rebalancing, but this will never happen.
Not unleast untill GW2.
*cross fingers hoping*

It's ugly as hell. However, this is not the first time in GW history ugly items sell for insane prices. Just remember Fellblades, Zodiac and Celestial weapons. BDS could only look good on a necro and I really don't see the point in eles or monks buying one. It's ugly.

I'll be as polite as I can: Learn to play.

As for original question - is it overpriced: No. If you don't want/can't pay for it, buy a cheaper skin.

Its not a money sink, all it does is transfer the money from one player to another.

Guess we need more things like Chaos gloves to pull the cash out of GW....

I'm not saying BDS is a money sink...

atm the only money sinks we have are armors and titles (including hom weapons and minipets),seems like it's not enough

I personnaly think nothing should go above a few hundred ectos, but dupers and powertraders (and mat rewards) inflated prices on some things to unreasonable levels

its not overpriced because it's ugly. It's not overpriced because you cant afford one. Its overpriced because ITS NOT RARE - theyre everywhere, getting to be as common as CoF greens, people are getting 5 a day, its a fast run dungeon, done in under an hour, and theyre litterally RAINING into the game. There is no reason for players to think theyre worth the crazy price. They fall all day long every day to people who payed 10k for a run because they cant, or cant be bothered to, actually complete the dungeon in a real team. You cannot walk into any of the 3 main trade towns and not see 6 of em spammed for sale. look at the high end sell forum, I swear to god 75%of the threads there have at least one of them in it, if they arent trying to sell 3 of them. There's more of those things in Kamdan than there are actually walking bone dragons in every zone in Kryta put together.
Personally I think anyone who actually pays high price for these things is a damn fool at this point. Once upon a time I can see they were rare, tough to get and not enough had fallen yet to equip every char in the game and thier heros with, but they have now.

I want one for my necro but have gone though SoO over 30 times and still have not got one. Thus it is an extremely rare drop and as such commands a high prices for even req 13's.

Still I would rather keep running SoO than shell out 200-400e for one so I will keep trying.

The Bone Dragon Staff is commonly priced FAR above my reservation price for the item - Which is 1g. Therefore I think it's overpriced for me. For someone else that is a collector of gross models and textures, then perhaps it's more.
